kidonitsa  Award-wining wines produced in Neapolis by Yiannis Vatista, of Vatistas Winery, feature Greek varietals as well as the international varietals. His 30-acre vineyards lie on the plains of Vion and the hillsides of Pantanassa, next to the castle of Monemvasia, where the famous Malvasia wine originates. Because of his commitment to developing local Greek varietals, in his vineyards you’ll find Petrouliano, Asproudi, Thrapsa, Mavroudi, Monemvasia, Kydonitsa, Roditi, Mandilaria, as well as Assyrtiko, Aedani, Athiri, Agiorgitiko, and Malagousia, along with the noble foreign varieties of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, and Merlot. Vatistas Kidonitsa is a white, dry wine from the native variety, Kydonitsa, grown in Vatistas’ vineyards in the region of Monemvasia. Grape selection and meticulous vinification resulted in a distinctive, pleasant wine with fruity aromas and rich mouthfeel.
