Pinot Noir, Smoke Tree, Sonoma County, USA 2014

The first new brand from Moët Hennessy to be released in 16 years, this Pinot Noir is sourced mainly from Russian River Valley and Carneros. From the San Francisco Chronicle: “The Pinot Noir (13.9%) is all red cherry. On the nose, its bright cherry aroma is grounded by a hint of earth; on the palate, however, the cherry turns medicinal — reminiscent of iodine. The wine finishes a little flabby (where’s the cool-climate acid?), with baking spices and a touch of sanguinity.”
