Malbec, Terrazas de los Andes, Single Vineyard, Mendoza, AR 2011

The 2009 vintage was an unusual and challenging one. Yield was particularly low due to adverse weather conditions, with cold and rainy days. Luckily, these conditions settled and autumn was benign and cool, granting a slow and extended ripeness which allo.

With its deep, intense purple color, this inviting wine practically oozes aromas of wild black fruits like blackberries, and red fruits like plums and cherries. Secondary aromas include spices and flowers, like violets and mint. Secondary notes of black chocolate, vanilla and smoky tones are clearly present, brought out by aging in Oak. This wine is known for being complex but still balanced, lively and fresh, due to a well-integrated acidity. Robust, structured, with a lingering finish in the mouth.
Wine Advocate – 90+ pts“The 2008 Afincado Malbec Single Vineyard was sourced from a site planted in 1929, with the wine aged in new French oak for 18-20 months. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it offers up an alluring nose of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, floral notes, and assorted red and black fruits. Structured on the palate, dense, and layered, it unfortunately displays some bitterness in its finish. It is still a classy effort, but the possibility exists that this was not a pristine bottle.” Jay Miller
